What will we ask you?
Nothing complicated, we promise.
We’ll usually ask a few questions about your skin and what you’re looking for from your makeup.
That might include:
- Whether your skin tends to feel dry, oily, combination or balanced throughout the day
- Whether your skin is currently sensitive or reactive
- How much coverage you prefer
- What finish you like your foundation to have
- Which foundation you’re currently using, if any
- Whether there are particular things you love or dislike about your current makeup
This helps us recommend not only your closest shade, but the foundation formula that makes the most sense for your skin and preferences.

Then we look at your shade
This is where undertone becomes important.
Two people can have a very similar skin depth but need completely different foundation shades depending on whether their undertone is warm, cool, neutral, golden or olive.
Our team will look at your skin in natural lighting and use this, along with everything you’ve told us, to narrow down your best Lust shade.
The goal isn’t for your foundation to look like foundation. It’s for it to blend seamlessly into your skin.
What should you have ready?
You don’t need anything special, but a few things can make your colour match even easier.
Natural daylight
If possible, sit facing a window. Natural light gives us the clearest view of your skin tone and undertone, while artificial or overhead lighting can alter how your complexion appears on camera.
A makeup-free face
Fresh, bare skin is ideal because it lets us see your natural colouring clearly. If you already have makeup on, don’t worry. We can still help.
A foundation you already own
Especially if you don’t love it. Have a foundation that turns orange? One that looks too pink? Too pale? Too dark?
Showing us a shade that doesn’t work can actually be incredibly helpful because it gives our team another reference point when choosing your Lust match.
