Is a Primer REALLY Necessary? An Expert Makeup Artist Spills the Tea
Let's cut to the chase: primer –It's the product we often overlook but our resident expert makeup artist, Madeleine Tirimacco, is here to spill the tea on why primer is the unsung hero you never knew you needed!
The Truth about Primers
"I really love chatting about primer. It is actually one of my favourite beauty products, and it’s often the one thing that gets missed or overlooked in our daily makeup application, however, I would say it does the biggest job of all," - Madeleine says.
Makeup longevity is a common struggle, and Madeleine emphasises that 9 times out of 10, clients complaining about makeup not lasting have neglected the crucial step of using a primer.
So, why the primer hype?
Priming does wonders for the skin, comparable to priming walls before painting your home, would you paint your walls without priming first? Without priming, your makeup is likely to reflect underlying skin conditions such as oiliness or dryness. A primer acts as a remedy, creating a seamless breathable canvas that combats these conditions, ensuring your makeup doesn't mimic the texture underneath.
The secret to a flawless finish
Using a primer ensures your foundation glides smoothly onto your skin, binding well and resulting in a less-cakey appearance. It's the secret ingredient to achieving that coveted flawless base.
"I would challenge anyone who has never primed their skin before to try it even for a day, and you will see not only your makeup lasting but the overall look and finish of your base will be more perfected," - Madeleine
