How To Get The Most Out Of Your Lust Skincare Products With Dry Skin
Just like personalities, we all have different skin types. The products that make your besties skin glow won’t always have the same effect on you.
Don’t stress, we know skin inside out (literally!) and we’re here to help.
This series on Skin types will help you determine what’s going on with your skin and why and a daily routine to help you correct any concerns and reap all the benefits of the Lust skincare range.
An easy way to test your skin type is simply to wash your face. Pat it dry then wait around an hour.
Now grab a mirror, a tissue and clean hands and examine your face. Are your pores small or large? Is there flaky or red patches? Pat your t-zone (forehead and nose) with the tissue, is there any oil on the tissue?
If you have:
Oily Skin: The tissue will have absorbed oil, your pores will be clearly visible and your skin has an overall glossy shine.
Dry Skin: There will be no oil on your tissue, your skin will feel tight and possibly look dull. Your pores will be very small to barely visible. There may be some patches of flakiness.
Combination Skin: The tissue will have absorbed some oil but your cheeks feel tight and dry.
Normal Skin: is classified as having a balanced oil production - neither too oily nor dry.
If you’re a *Dry* Skin Gal, this is for you:
Your dry skin is generally caused by a lack of sebum (oil) in the skin. This can be caused by genetics, the weather, harsh products and ageing. We can’t control all of those factors, but we can help the skin externally by using quality products and a good skin routine.
First, let’s get into the facts. Think of the top layers of your skin (the epidermis) as a sponge. When it is dry (ie. think of a completely dry sponge) the surface of skin is tight. Skin products will absorb slightly into the skins top layer and not much deeper. When skin is hydrated (ie. just like when a sponge has been soaked in water) it is prepped to easily absorb the products you put on it - how well & deep it absorbs them depends on the hydration level.
Preferably, we want the concentrated ingredients in our products to pass through the epidermis (the top layers) so they can do their work right down in the deeper layers, the dermis. The more nourished the deeper cells are, the healthier they are and that’s where you get your desired results - whether that is improving fine lines and wrinkles, calming inflammation, correcting oil production etc.
So for those of us with particularly dry skin 🙋🏼♀️ we need to be consistently keeping on top of our skins hydration to get the most out of nutrient rich products such as the Rejuvenation Oil & Vitamin C Serum.
I can’t stress it enough.... Water binding hyaluronic acid is the top ingredient to treat dry, thirsty skin. It not only hydrates the skin but also allows nutrients to easily pass through the top layer of skin cells and into the deeper levels of the dermis.
Daily Dry Skin Routine
1. Double Cleanse with our Cream Cleanser
Remove excess oil, dirt and bacteria from your face, neck and down onto your chest.
2. Apply Hyaluronic Acid Serum to damp skin
This gives your skin a MASSIVE boost of hydration and prepares it for the vitamin serums.
This step is where you are treating your skin concerns and nourishing the cells to be in prime condition.
4. Moisturise with our Peptide Cream
Once the serums have had time to absorb, lock it all in with the daily moisturising lotion which will also protects skin from UVA & UVB Rays.
Repeat this process every night, without the need to moisturise. 2-3 times per week, exfoliate at night after cleansing using the Vitamin C Exfoliating Crystals..
